Upon disclosure, at Copia, of the Jimboree '08 plans, will a precognative trip report once again follow here in QJ for our reading pleasure as we ride out the remains of another hard water season  :question Inquiring QJrs want to see what QP's hidden cameras (get out the lense cleaner) and Jimbo's foggy crystal ball (get out the Windex) have in store for this year. I think the unusual blue-gray haze that follows QP and the purple haze that follows Jimbo have somewhat altered reality  Wink Japanese radioman and eyebrow sisters, what's next ? Or.....maybe it is just my OD in amperage and continent covering tarp that have altered my perception of reality  Shocked Shocked Shocked

Stay tuned

Does Captin Kirk ring a bell?  Undecided

Jimboree Moto:

To seek out the lakes of the Quetico frontier.
These are the voyages of the Jimboree canoe.
Our mission, to explore each lake, and cross every portage.
To seek out the biggest fish and find a soft place for our tents.
Be proud in pink with confidence
And to boldly go where no humans have gone before

Mr. Evinrude,

Yeah, he's wearing the "trainee" outfit.

In a few years he GRADUATES to what Bo & I are wearing in the picture that started this thread....

The ghosts don’t bother me as much as that thing you pulled up out of the water last year. You remember you had to beat it back into the water with a club.

Yeah, Magic-

Bring your "beating stick" and get ready to catch a big one again [see: (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links) ].  Unfortunately, this year we are forced to comply with new park rules.  NO LIVE BAIT!  You will have to leave your sacrificial goat at home this year.

That's not all bad, though.  Those bleating little beggars would more often than not chew through the lines tethering them to camp.  Then, we'd end up chasing them 'round & 'round the woods.  Not to mention the nuisance bear problems they brought us over the years!  We're probably better off without them.  Nevertheless, Pollyhumpers sure DID like those goats, though, didn't they?!  Especially the spotted ones!  My personal preference were the white ones with black spots, particularly in the mid-evening hours with the sun going down.  You could troll those babies at about half-paddling speed on a smooth surface, then... WHAM!! Hold on, brother, 'cause you're going for a ride!!!!

Ah, the good old days....

Nope, we're gonna play by the rules & come up with legal bait in 2008.

That's not to say that we couldn't send Quentin out for a swim just before we start fishin', though.  He's a pretty fast using that butterfly stroke, as I recall.  That's JUST the right sort of action that will attract a Pollyhumper, too.  If we practice, we can get it so we cast in right behind him right about when he starts to get tired.  With luck, we get the Pollyhumper & Quentin gets to keep his right foot.

I was thinking about contacting one of those guys who carves those wooden duck decoys for a living.  Maybe they could create us a "goat decoy"?  I realize it wouldn't be a very lively lure & getting it to sink down to Pollyhumper depth could be a pain-in-the-you-know-what but it just might work.  Could be that Dr. Juice sells a "Tournament Pollyhumper Scent" that we can spray on the lure, too.  We should research that.

If Bo comes along, we could just rub the lure on him, eh?  He sort of smells a bit like a goat, don't you think?

With a little preparation, I'm confident we can do this thing right, despite the new rules.

And Magic, don't you forget to file down your treble hooks.  No barbs, remember?  Best get started now, though.  It takes a while to shave down the barbs on a grappling hook....

Jimbo did things change in the Jimboree Code book.  Geesh, I miss one little fishing escpade and everything gets out of place.

I thought ALL of the Jimboree clan, had to have the proper gear and fishing bait.

Jimboree 2006 best boat award goes to Jimbo.  I suspect we might see this demo version in a company catalog soon.  Sure hope all the trademarks in order.

I'm thinking I might just need too drop in on some Secret Lake this year and keep up the minutes of the next Jimboree.
WR wasn't that your job last year?  Didn't Jimbo give you the pink notebook that matches your shirt?

Like Jimbo mentions we're gonna play by the rules & come up with legal bait in 2008.
Old Salt you better leave that #4 Duluth pack full if lures at home this time.  I know a couple of those are outlawed.

The following baits are in question.

I suspect Gulp International has something much like it.

I just hope they last long enough to get the fish in the boat.

Jim
If those pollyhumpers get a whiff of Bo cigar they will berry them selves in the bottom of the lake. Isn’t that why Bo smokes those things to keep the pollyhumpers away?
Bo
Are there any places along this rout we should be on the lookout for? IM me if you would rather.
