This is an expertly written memoir of an African American novice paddler who paddles the length of the Mississippi river stopping in small towns for food and supplies meeting many local characters with varying responses to his expedition and his skin color. Fascinating book. Smiley Smiley

I'd venture to say he was the only African American paddling the upper Miss!
