Would like advice on the Wenonah Sundowner canoe 18 feet long for canoe trips with two people and a dog plus gear, the color is yellow weight is 46 pounds I believe.
Please any thoughts of this canoe will help alot.

I have a 17' Sundowner.  Just picked it up last summer and haven't tripped with it.  I have been quite impressed with it and believe that you will find it a very capable craft for you trip!

It is a fine craft.  But there are many fine craft.  Many people do consider the Sundowner their baby.

If you got a buy on one then it's a good grab.

I've got (2) 18' Sundowners. It'll handle plenty of gear. High and dry in rough water. Likes a lighter bow paddler. Old style was, ladies in bow, men in the stern. Rides through big waves that way great.

Like Wally said, Lots of good boats.

So several nice points about this canoe it seems. Great!
Have located a Sundowner for trade with the canoe we currently have been usisng but the deal for the trade isnt for sure yet, beings I have only been sent a few photos so far and have still yet to actually look at it and try it out in the water.
The canoe has been a rental in the area so its got a bit of character ready to go. It has a few patches and has been used but still in great shape, cant wait to see it.
In looking at this used canoe what are some things I should look for and have noticed that it has tractor type seats that seem to slide/adjust back and forth. Are these seats comfortable and can they be replaced if needed?

Tractor seats are usually mounted slightly lower than web seats. Not so easy to get your feet under to kneel and have you butt on the seat too. Try it on dryland first. If you can't, remember and don't get your feet trapped later.
Use some contact cement and glue in some closed cell foam on the seat. The smooth surfaced closed cell is easier to wipe the morning dew off of.

OK and will also keep in mind the less space under the seats? for tucking the legs under as we both like to do that on occassion, but alot of the time I also will put one foot under and extend the other out on the side of the paddle force seems better power and leverage that way.
I will see the canoe this weekend in Ely
