We could almost hear you all laughing as Eric and I paddled in circles around the lake after midnight trying to find our bushwhack camp by starlight and one headlamp.

Naw, we just thought you were still fishing. We figured you couldn't sleep until catching at least one fish on that lake. Smiley

Glad to hear you're back safe. It was great meeting you guys.

We made it to Louisa.  Our rout in to the lake was tough but the rout north out made us question our sanity.

Welcome back! Can't wait to hear the details of all that. By 'route north' I assume you don't mean the chain of lakes to McEwen (Arp, Star, Fauquier, Rod, Edge, etc). Did you get creative (to Gamp then Glacier)?

Kudos to hexnymph and crew.  I spent the day of the 13th walking some of that woods. Steep hill sides, dense brush and down trees made me rethink my rout.

Thanks for the kudos MP, and kudos to you for attempting a solo trip and your planned approach route from Louisa, rather than the more popular approach from Magie.  We wondered if we'd see you on your way in as we were heading out.  Also wondered if you tried the creek bed, found it was choked solid, and turned back.

Yep, steep hillsides, dense brush, and down trees galore.  But what else could we expect?  An open trail?
