If you can't get past your wife how do you expect to get through a half mile of possible hell to stumpy's lake? She must be some woman.

I think, swamps, deadfalls, cliffs, boulder fields, and bugs are easier to negotiate, than the will of some women.
That said....Just do it !

My wife has never understood that line, no matter how many times she's seen the movie.  But I'll be at the Jamboree just the same Smiley

I agree IC... I told my wife I was leaving on the 10th to drive up... entry is on the 11th, which is also her B-day  Shocked

If I would have asked, probably would have gotten more grief, then again maybe me being gone for 10 days is a great present. I know it is for me  Grin

In the past I tried every approach with Jack:
Not saying anything and just disappearing, leaving someone else in the family to break the news.
Telling him WAY in advance so he could get used to the idea.  That didn't work, he just pouted longer (not because he didn't want me to go...but that he worried that much longer about me being out in the woods alone).
Telling him under my breath when he was preoccupied with something else...then saying he must have forgotten what I said.
I finally settled on telling him about a week ahead...he still fretted but not for so long.
He was always mostly glad when he knew he wasn't going to be asked to come along  Grin
So now that issue all in the past...but I miss the homecomings.
