I always wear smartwool.  I have some neoprene socks and don't take them unless I am going in cold weather.  Since I typically go in June, it is smartwool for me.  I bring three pairs of them.  One pair I use on all traveling days in my boots.  One pair in the AM or PM around camp, and I keep one pair in my sleeping bag (don't tell) for backup when my around camp ones get wet. Overkill, I know, but one of my luxury items.  I love putting on a dry pair of smartwools after my feet have been wet all day.

Another option is to use waterblocker socks, with or without an additional sock.  I liked them while they worked, but there have been reliability problems.  See (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)
