Cane Seat Protection

What is the best way to protect a cane seat?  I have one on my Bell Rockstar and want to put someting on it to preserve it.  I know that at some point it will have to be replaced but I would like to get as much mileage out of it as possible.

Thanks in advance for your time....

Don’t do what I did.  I put 303 protection  on mine.  They were so slick you slid every paddle stroke.  And if the canoe tipped you slid to the low side.
