I enjoyed that...another advantage of technology (GPS)....finding the creek and reassurance where it is, and exactly where you are!  But I can appreciate going without it.

Would love to see that area!

Nice pics.

Nice read, although (not being familiar with that area) it took a while to determine where on the planet you were.

Re: GPS.  Looks like you might be picking up Topo USA as well as Topo Canada!

A campsite with a picnic table ... what luxury!!  Did it have maid service?

I "feel your pain" having paddled in the Q in early September ... we encountered much more wind than expected, although technically we were never wind bound.  But to err to the side of caution while traveling solo is an intelligent choice.

Nice trip report, Al! I'm really feeling like trying a solo some time, and this was a good preview of what that can be like. All I have to do now is convince the Mrs. that I won't hurt myself  Grin

Tom
what you have already accomplished with your weight loss is truly admirable. Really extra ordinary. You can do anything and after meeting your Missus I am inclined to think she would give you the green light.

Go for it. My advice is to do something challenging. Stay busy but go slow. Put in long but slow and careful days and you will sleep well and not get lonely. Have a goal. Record your trip so years down the road you can re-live it. If your anything like me you will forget most of what happened if you don't.  Smiley

Good advice on going " solo"
I'd start with a short trip that allows you to bail out, IF the experience isn't what you expected or wanted.

I'd also remember to think twice before acting.
Unlike a group trip, your on your own for better or worse.
A momentary lapse in common sense/caution can get you in trouble fast.

I always ask myself " What's the worst that can happen?"
And more important, what can/will I do if it happens Wink
Staying in the moment will go a long ways toward staying safe and enjoying your experience.
