Really a first rate book. Detailed and comprehensive hand drawn maps detailing the best strategies through rapids. Good intro on being prepared as well as interesting afternotes.

Here is a teaser......"Dene and Cree children often eat the horse fly (known as a "bull dog"). If you pull out the wings and squeeze the meaty thorax gently, a gel-sac pops out filled with a delicious nectar which can be scooped up in the tongue".

I was hoping that MT would vouch for this quote with a recap of firsthand experience. Undecided

Hey your back! And true to form I might add with a bit of sarcasm and wit............... Just what the doctor ordered to spice things up.  Cool

It took him (Hap wilson) 5 years of paddling to write the book in which several rivers are referenced. Not only is it very informative he also has included excerpts of his trip journals weaved throughout which helps give a "flavor" Wink to the material.

Several of the trips could be accomplished by intermediate level paddlers like myself. Do I see WW and floatplanes in my future? Could be fun.........
