Thermarest NeoTrekker

I decided to splurge.  For years I had used self-inflating pads.  The thin ones were too thin for my comfort and the fat ones were to big and heavy for what I wanted to carry.  To get both good size/weight and thickness properties, I tried a POE blow-up mattress (like Big Agnes but less expensive).  The one I bought was mummy style and I hated the way my feet would always fall off the mattress.

So I splurged and bought a large NeoTrekker.  I do like my feet being on the mattress and at 6'3' I need the extra length.  I appreciate the extra width.  Yet  total weight/size is comparable to a thin self-inflating.  Unlike some blow-up mattresses it has baffles so it is not as "bouncy" as my POE.  I found it real comfortable.

The one draw back is if it gets a leak, it is useless.  Surprisingly, Thermarest does not include a repair kit with it.  Surprising because at well over $100 for the large, it is rather pricey to leave out such an important component.  (I wrote them to complain and they agreed to send me one.)

Some a thumbs-up for the NeoTrekker (with the caveat that it should come with a repair kit).

Sweet!  Odd that they don't throw in a repair kit.  Big Agnes does... Wink

I bet it's lighter & packs smaller than the old-school thermarest too!  Win win win!
