I've been away from the qj a lot the last few years, not a place to visit when you really wish you could be in the Q and can't go.
Over the last few months I've taking up fly fishing and selling the supplies.  Been chasing a few rainbows too.
After months of selling and working, I'm getting a dream fly fishing experience.  On the morning of the 27th, I'll be airborne to Costa Rica,  Chasing  150lb tarpon on a fly rig with 30 lb line.  Damn I can hardly wait.  I'll take some pictures and post when I get back.

QP,

I can relate to the pain of not being able to go to Q Cry
I solved my issue temporarily by learning to live viscerally off the trip reports of others Wink
Not the same but better than nothing at all.

Enjoy your trip to Costa Rica
When your landing that 150# Tarpon, be careful. Seems that in some areas they have a little critter called a Salt Water Croc. Huh Not something you want to meet in the water or while reaching to haul in a wounded fish. Wink

Costa Rica! How cool is that! #150 Tarpon...? Better you than me Grin Grin Grin

Rascals can be fickle. When all else fails take a big chunk of catfish, attatch it to your fly, hand toss it out in the water and put your flyrod in a forked sticked. With just a wee bit of patience you should be able to get a good picture........you know, one of those fly fishing photos with the rod/reel clenched in your teeth with the fish at your feet in the shallows  Wink

In 4 weeks, while many of you may be chopping ice for the fishing opener, I'm going to hanging with the big boys again off the coast of Costa Rica.  I'm pumped and ready to go.

Back from the Jungle.  Wow what a trip I can't wait to go back.
My last day I caught 5, here is an 80 pounds, caught on a fly, 30 pound test, almost an hour and a half fight.  For the small fish we caught "those under 100 pounds"  they sure did fight a good game.  The 180 my buddy caught only fought for and hour and 10 min.
Here's the hook up
