Lost Bell Magic

I lost my pride and joy on the way on a fishing trip with my son. It was lost on the evening of June 7th or the early morning of June 8th outside of Superior or Duluth on our way up to the Gunflint Trail. The hook on a strap tore. When we got to our put-in we noticed it was gone. I had to rent a canoe. I just got back from the trip last night, and was hoping the person that found it would contact me. I would offer a reward to get it back. The canoe is black Kevlar. I have the serial #. Steve

I lost it at night, Maybe 2-4 in the morning. A strap broke that held the back of the canoe down to the trailer. It must have wiggled back from under the front strap and fell off. I had just driven for Elkhorn, WI. to Superior, and a young friend of my son took over driving. I went to sleep. When I woke up at 4:00 at the end of the Gunflint; it was gone. I bought my Magic new from Bell so I do have the serial number. I called the MN DNR but the said they could not help me find it if it was not registered (we don't have to register canoes in WI.). I have called both Cook and Lake Co. police. I also called bell and found they are not making canoes right now, bummer! Anyone have a Black Magic for sale? Steve

Did you ever find it or vice versa?

It has not turned up yet. I put adds in two local paper, contacted three police stations, put adds in craigslist, and opened two threads on discussion forums. Hope springs eternal. Thanks everyone for keeping your eyes open. Steve

Honestly, and take my personal opinion for what it's worth… On the bright side, I'd consider myself lucky I didn't kill anyone. And hey, I pity the fool that buys your oddly scratched Magic and tries to register it.

I know a guy who lost a Grumman in fairly heavy freeway traffic. It caused a big backup and even made the news according to him but thankfully no accidents resulted form it.

Now imagine someone driving at night, perhaps a little sleepy or worse and maybe noticing a black Magic in the headlights…

Your right, could have been worse. I used that same camo ratchet strap to attach my tree stand. Needless to say, I will be buying all new straps this year.
