Brief summary here, and I plan to post a full trip report on the "Current Conditions and Trip Reports" board soon.

Dates: 6/7-6/14

Party: 4 (2 tandem canoes)

Route: Fly in to Dunstan -- Unnamed -- Wanda -- Unnamed Chain -- Royd (Fly Out)

Weather: Outstanding. We got 2 hours of rain total the whole trip (during waking hours), and not too much wind. Temps in low 70's for highs, and low 50's for lows.

Bugs: Not too bad. I only put on bug dope once, which was hard to believe. Lots of flies were hatching and swarming, but they just buzzed around your head and were not biting. I did see one tick.

Fishing: Excellent at times, slow the first day. Had one of "those days" on Wanda where the walleyes were stacked up and hungry. Fast action on jigs, hardbaits, and trolling cranks. A few decent pike, but nothing huge. Found a great laker pattern on Royd that produced fairly consistently. Biggest of each species: Walleye 24", Pike 34", Lake Trout 28". Also caught a yellow perch on Wanda.

Portages: Thanks to Martin Kehoe and Harlan, not bad at all. The park really got smacked by the wind/snow event last fall, and it shows. If the portages we took had not been cleared by chainsaw, most of them would not have been passable. Going anywhere right now off the beaten path would not be easy.

Solitude: Saw 1 solo paddler on Dunstan the very first day. We saw no one else the rest of the week. A lot of float plane traffic overhead on Royd, but didn't bug us. Just something to notice.

Wildlife: Unreal. 9 moose (including a cow and calf), a fox, a wolf, a great gray owl, a mother bear with cub, eagles, and (rarest of all) a wolverine.
