Quetico / Superior map route planning DVD

Wondering if anyone has a route planning DVD to recomend. I havnt been here in awhile and want to plan another trip hopefully for next spring. I had a DVD map set I found on this site that I purchased several years ago but managed to lose it after a couple of residence moves (probably sitting in a box right next to where I left it). Anyways I completely forgot the name but I was able to make my own maps and route and load the coordinates to my GPS.

TIA,
Joe

There's Memory Maps which I used and it was pretty good.  But if you have a Garmin GPS you could use Garmin's Base Camp Program.  Of course you'll have to also purchase their Map of Canada but with those two programs you can do trip planning, print maps, mark campsites and follow your route in real time anywhere in Canada.

Kerry, thanks as well for those hints--- I've been searching around the internet for something like the two options you suggested for marking up maps. Thanks. Good stuff.

I have Garmin with Mapsource (free software that comes with most Garmins).  I have 2 sets of maps for it.  Topo Canada from Garmin covering all of Canada and PaddleNav covering the area around and including Quetico and BWCAW.  The PaddleNav has finer topo lines and costs less. I am not sure the PaddleNav elevation lines are accurate (in some places creeks run up and down hill) Either package is a good source of maps.

Am I the only one that gets a permit and takes a map and once at the entry point decide where I'm going?  I spend the rest of the year planning for a living and just don't want to do that for leisure.

Ibycus has topos for all of Canada in Garmin format available free on the internet via bittorrent (yes it's legal). Or the developer will mail you a dvd for cheap.

As for planning my trip - well I work long hours most days and my relaxation is the hours I spend planning my trip to get away.  Not that the route is in stone for I like flexibility and usually will plan at least two, and often three or four options from the put in.
