When pressure is put on one end, the line tightens evenly, keeping the grommets from being torn out.

Thumbs Upup

So simple when you see it used, not so apparent when your dealing with torn grommets. Wink

Oh sure PJ, you big strong guys can afford to pack along and carry the perfect tools for every task. Think about us smaller guys who have to count the ounces before every trip. I suppose you think a dozen of those knot eliminators don't weigh anything...Geez. Now my blood is starting to boil.

Looks like a great idea. Wouldn't small wood sticks accomplish the same thing? That wood allow KF to share the genius.

Obviously not!  Duh. That's the balsa wood model. I'm thinking of developing a graphite version. Maybe titanium filled with helium . . . Only five dollar.

Great idea!  ...And even though that stick in the photo looks ever so slightly as though it might have been green (to increase flexibility),   I feel no compunction to call for a dual at sunrise!   [(...no wonder grown men seek the solitude of weeks alone in the wilderness...  )]   Wink

I do similar when using tiny prussics on the ridgeline, from the line to the grommet.  don't have to have the grommets exactly on the ridgeline that way

KF,
Exchange the wooden model for a sausage stick.  Eat them on the last day.

It looks like a neat idea.  I will have to give it a try.  Like a lot of things, it all seems so obvious once it is pointed out to you.

Very cool.  I did that once on a wind tarp at home but never thought of it for out in the field.  I use a CCS tarp that has fabric loops and of course I run the line through the loops.  PJ's method would be so much easier.  It could be done with a second rope instead of sticks.  Pull the second rope and the whole thing comes down.
