Quote: used to wear a vest on canoe trips that had a zillion little pockets and hooks and pouches.
I had one of those vests, but ended up giving it to a buddy, becasue it had so much storage, I couldn't remember what pocket I put things in.
He wore it one year when he hosted a Maine River trip. Our outfitter took his van ahead for us at the pick-up point using my buddies spare keys and we were going to retrieve them when we returned canoes.
We get to take-out and my buddy tells everyone that he doesn't have the van keys which were in that vest?
I said "check again", maybe you "lost" the keys in all those pockets? He grins sheepishly and proceeds to tell us he had lost/left the vest somewhere on the river?
Long story short, he and I had to paddle upstream against a strong current, thru two portages before we found that vest where he had left it at a portage becasue he was too hot.
So much for trying to organize your gear, IF you can't remember to bring the item you use with you.
