3 years on the New York Times best seller list, who knew? This is the story of Louis Zamperini who spent his formative years as a bit of a hellion but went on to Olympic fame as a track star. WW2 put him in a B-24 and ultimately adrift on the ocean in a raft for over 40 days only to be captured and subject to humiliating and inconceivable treatment by the Japanese. Numerous times I had to stop reading as my eyes welled up with tears. Absolutely riveting and inspiring, so glad I found this book.

MT, Late post on this one but you are right, it's an excellent read! Thanks for posting your review. He and all of his POW colleagues were heroes for their fortitude and endurance. Amazing what humans can survive in difficult conditions.
