Just closing the loop on this one. I finished the book and now I want to replicate his travels! Great stuff. Loved the narratives of his time in Nome, waiting for a flight out to the Diomedes. Some of his winter excursions brought were fascinating. Hope that he goes back and writes a sequel. His synopsis of the country's history filled in many gaps  for me.
