Have you ever been stalked on-line?

I have, but it was a good thing. As QJ looks to the future we ponder what the site accomplishes. We know the site draws a lot of interest from many who never strike a key to respond themselves but they keep returning. I am wondering how many friendships have started on the forums. A few years ago I shared a program spot at Canoecopia and was amazed at the number of people that were familiar with my canoe life and remember talking to one couple about their trip to WCPP. The wife told me of how her husband followed my stories intently on-line. Never making any contact with me even though it was easy to do. A few years later I was enjoying a beer upon arriving at a WCPP gathering that had been planned on-line with some others. A solo canoe pulled up and a somewhat familiar person got out. I had been stalked all the way into WCPP. "Farmer" and I have become great friends and have shared in numerous trips and private "wingnights."

Yes, definitely.

Back in the days we were doing "Jimborees", we had a few folks waiting for the return of the Pink Flock as Zup's towboat ran us back to Crane Lake one year.

Had one guy hunt me down at a gymnasium during my workout a few years back, offering to become my "portage monkey" if Kingfisher and I would allow him to join us on our initial foray into WCPP's Irvine Lake... which we DID (read all about it: (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links) ).

Have been hunted down in Quetico numerous times by various shady characters who learned our whereabouts "on-line", beginning long ago with Nanaboozhoo's best buddy, db.  I think he was on a vision quest at the time (either that or his whisky supply had run low).

Flipping it around some, I think I may have been one of YOUR stalkers, Marten!

Never been the "victim" but I have certainly played the part of "stalker". Safe to say I had a man-crush on Kingfisher, admiring him from afar. And, after pestering him with the occasional (and sometimes not so occasional) PM, he saved me from my planned folly of entering WCPP the year after the big blowdown by extending an invite to the Quetico.

To this day the trip remains a highlight of my outdoor adventures. Great guy....... my admiration wasn't misplaced.
