Coleman Inlet nylon pants.

The moisture dispersion netting is a pain but for $20 at Walmart they were worth every penny. The tailoring is nothing special but they were comfortable and worked as promised - it rained every day of my last trip.

Best $20 bucks I've spent on gear in a long time and I'd highly recommend them to anyone looking for value and comfort.

Thanks db!
I'll keep them in mind the next time I need some new rain pants. I bought a new pair after this trip for the same price from Bass Pro but haven't worn them yet.

I've never worn out a pair of rain pants. A couple of trips with me sitting down on pack logs/rocks and I end up tearing the backsides out.

So a cheap but serviceable pair of pants is something I'm always looking for.

I have the same pants I'd guess - bought them to replace a pair of goretex pants that had worn out (for hunting) - yeah, that netting is kind of a pain - for that reason, and to go slightly lighter I bought a pair of marmot precip pants with the full zip.

I'd say that you are ok going with cheaper rain pants, but should have better quality for a rain jacket - usually you don't get too cold if your legs get wet, and you are in and out of the water at portage landings anyway - but I think you need the best quality jacket you can get to keep the torso and head dry.

I used mine once this past hunting trip - the netting is really a pain and makes it very hard to pull the pants over my boots - only used them in camp one evening.  but yeah, at the price (more like $29 I think) an OK pair of rain pants - but I didn't like them enough to want to use them much and bought another pair of Marmot Precip - I prefer full zip pants so I can get into my regular pants pockets, and so much easier to get on over the boots.
