I have two bottles like that both from VAPUR, though with different caps.   One was new in package I got at a thrift store - the other was something I bought at Eddie Bauer.   Both of the bottles leaked at the seams - the one I got at the thrift store was a promo from computer stuff - it leaked at the top seam right from the start, the other leaked on a seam also after a little bit of use.  I fixed with glue, but based on that experience, I would not recommend one - I have a couple of Platypus bottles that I use also - neither of them have leaked yet.   I like the fold up idea, as I use them only for extra capacity when hunting, and don't have to deal with the bulk of an empty "regular" water bottle - can just fold up and put in a pocket.     YMMV

i too have a collapsible platypus for about 4 years now with steady use. it hasn't leaked yet. thought this brand might perform the same but with improvement of the built in carabiner. guess not. after posting saw the vapur on amazon. many reviews state that its very durable, took some abuse and didn't leak, a very few did say the product leaked. with this, better to stick with the platypus and just rubber band it. besides, the platypus has  hole for a carabiner... thanks MM!

I have two platypusies that are really old. I picked up a smaller one for rum years ago. No leaks yet, although the exterior of the two older ones is delaminating. Folded, frozen, abused…

I still have my old rum bottle too but I don't trust the plastic cap. Wink

I've been using Naglene Cantene's for the last 5 yrs or so. I have 2-32oz ones, and 2-48oz. They've held up well except for 1-32oz one that developed a leak because I kept setting it down a rough rocky areas instead of on a padded area.

All of the bag have a gusseted bottom, so if you use a gravity type water filter, they'll stand upright and you just keep an eye on them.

A little trick I came up with for those of us that like a cool drink on a hot day is to go to the bank and get some canvas coins sacks, or something similar as long as it's canvas and big enough to fit your water bottle inside, but not too bulky.

I put my traveling Cantene in the bag and secured it with a Bungee Bob around the neck of bottle. As you travel, keep the bag wet and under your seat or out of the sun. The evaporation will keep your water nice and cool even on a hot day.

For little bags like that vapur bottle, use a old cotton tube-sock, roll it down and secure. Same principle as the canvas bag.

well that settles it
platypusies and nalgenes are in and vapur is out.
stupid little stuff like this makes a difference. i coulda been out 20 bucks and had leaky bottles. the platypus also gets stuffed in my coat when the dog and i go to the field. don't want no leaky vapur out there. the platypus stands upright but not as wide a bottom as the nalgene.  have thought about using evaporative cooling many times but never followed thru
on a side note, i replaced my old narrow top hard nalgene with a new one and retired the old narrow top as a cooking oil container. this past year was the first time cooking oil didn't creep out.

IF you have a wide mouth bottle(s) of any type, then you should think about getting some of these. Makes them MUCH easier to drink out of.

If you go to the fold-able plastic bottle, sooner or later you’ll get a pin-hole leak.

I have a stick of that glue you fix holes in fishing waders, the kind you melt the top with lighter and dab on the hole.  That works great on seam areas.

On flat areas I have a roll of that black waterproof tape you can buy at the auto parts store that seals coolant leaks in radiator hoses. Between the two you can fix many things besides just a leaky water bottle.

On trips the hard Nalgene is primary and used for mix. i had narrow for years and went to wide last year. the easy sip addition is perfect. i wasn't aware they existed and will have to get a few.   the soft platypus is secondary and just straight water.
