Copia 2017?

I know it's a long way off, but I need to get an estimate of how many rooms we might need to reserve. I'm planning to be there. It would be at the same place as we met last March, Country Inn & Suites, 400 Riverplace, Menona, March 10-12, 2017. If you think you are likely to attend AND will want a discounted room, please post here, or pm me. Thanks!

Posting here does NOT obligate anyone to anything. Just trying to get an estimate. 8-)

Probably be there or at least that's what I'm thinking at the moment. It might only be for one day though but there's a lot of time between now and then to nail it down.

I should add that a big reason this matters is that to get the meeting room, we need to show them QJers will book with them. The rate they are offering is $115 per night for up to 4 in a room, the same rate they are offering to Canoecopia. If you think there is a probability you will attend and want a room, please post. Again, it is not a commitment. I can't predict the future either.

This is not a dinner count. That will come in later January.

Count me in for a room on Friday and Saturday night. Just returned from Vegas trip to attend a nephews wedding.

Who plans a wedding in Las Vegas in August. Yikes. It was 104 degrees yesterday. March Copia time weather is what I like.

Anyone else? I'm planning to talk to them in October to reserve the meeting room and a block of rooms. The more we have, the cheaper the deal... Cool

Unfortunately, I'm not seeing enough interest to book a meeting room or a block of rooms for Copia next year. Sad

IF you have interest, but haven't posted, I will reconsider...if you let me know.

We'll see what we can do for Saturday dinner...next year. If you have suggestions, please post or pm.

After discussing this with a couple of board members, we are not going to book a meeting room, or do a block.

We will encourage QJERS to book rooms at the Country Inn & Suites, 400 Riverplace, Menona, WI; March 10-12, 2017. Cool If you visit Canoecopia.com, you can get the discount rate of $115 per night. This is a good deal, and you get free breakfast, free wifi, etc. Cool I have already booked there. If you book there, please post here. Cool

We will plan to do pizzas for whomever can be there Friday evening. Details later.

If we stay at same place, we can also socialize over breakfast bar Saturday and Sunday mornings. This provides at least 3 opportunities to connect with fellow QJERS.

Saturday dinner plans will be announced next year. We hope you will plan to make tracks to Madtown, March 10-12, for our annual rendezvous. Cool

OS- I've been off the board for a bit; sorry I missed the original post.

I'll be here to coordinate things at this end again. We can connect and figure the best strategy.

Always look forward to seeing everyone!!

We are planning on going to 'Copia this next year, but we will have Anna (granddaughter, teenager) with us, and part of the incentive for her to go is to stay at the Hilton Garden Inn in Middleton.  (great pool.)  I also doubt, since we will be leaving from Wilmette, where she lives, after she gets out of school on Friday, that we will get there in time for pizza, but if we do, we would like to join you.  I'll know more as time gets closer.

Hope to see our QJ friends in March, even if we don't come to your gatherings.

There is a very nice indoor pool at the Country Inn & Suites and it even includes the water. Grin . One of the nice perks is the included breakfast buffet which provides another opportunity to socialize.

Of course, you're always welcome to join us for pizza. Details will be shared in January. We always look forward to seeing our Spartan friends. Cool

There will be more information posted here soon. "Planning a Fishing-based Wilderness Canoe Trip" will be presented once again at Copia by Old Salt and Wally 13, sharing some new and updated information.

Information in this thread indicates where QJERS can lodge together. It is NOT necessary to stay at Country Inn to attend Friday or Saturday evening gatherings but it does help to get an affordable rate on their meeting room. Cool Therefore, it helps us if we know you will stay there. Thanks for posting here.

Snowdog and I are planning to share a room.

MP, Is there a discount code or special rate for us as QJers or did you just book with best available? Thanks in advance -- I need to get on this before they sell out or the rate goes up. I'm probably looking at Fri & Sat.

The Canoecopia rate is $115 per night. Just mention 'Canoecopia' when you call them to get the discount. Also, mention QuietJourney'. Cool Thanks. Cool

We got the $115 rate.
I got a person who spoke with a heavy accent I could not understand her and she could not understand me.  I should have just hung up and called back to get someone else.

Hmmm... maybe we got discounted tickets there for the cricket convention?

I'll probably go just for Sunday.  Will make the presentation if you do it on that day.  My goal is to see the canoes.  I need motivation to plop down big money.  I need to feel the lightness and see the beauty of a new Magic.

Yep, I live in Middleton and we often meet family and friends staying there for a swim. It's great. Safe travels and enjoy your visit!

My first Copia was '81 and I haven't missed one in the past 10 years or so. Also a big fan of Bike O' Rama. Good weekend in Madison!

We have been taking our granddaughter to northern Minnesota on vacation ever since she was five years old (she is from the Chicago area and she is thirteen now.)  The traditional "first stop" overnight has been at the HGI in Middleton where we relax and unwind and start to anticipate our good times.  We swim, have dinner at the steak house across the street, swim some more.  Get up in the morning and swim again.  Then head for the cities to visit with our friends there.  Anna is big into tradition.   Smiley  Because we missed our trip this past year due to Spartan1's illness, she is especially looking forward to the chance for Canoecopia this year--also, she is a HUGE Jerry Vandiver fan, and she will be excited to be at as many of his concerts there as we can manage to make.  We enjoy the "Paddle Songs" so much.

Just made the decision to not go to an annual professional conference I've been to every year since 1982 that is same weekend as Copia this year, and do Copia instead.  Part of my New Year resolution - play more work less.  Got a room at (east side) Hampton for $84.

OS, I've booked a room at the CI&S, Menona for Friday and Saturday.  They are still giving the $115 rate.  My cousin moved out of town and I decided not to make the long drive out/back to my sister's so I could spend more time in town this year.

I'm disappointed to be missing the festivities this year! However, my future bow paddler is expected to be born in late March, and Madison is just a little too far from home - too close to the big day. Have a Spotted Cow for me!
