Does anyone know much about these gizmos?: (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

They appear to be highly portable and can be powered by four AAA batteries for 30 hours of use.  Seems to be a reasonable lightweight solution for fish-finding in a canoe.  Thoughts?

Thanks for sharing those reviews.  They're definitely helpful!

I'm thinking the 1X "gray scale" version will draw less power than their 1C "color model" (which was the one reviewed) and, therefore, do better than the reviews indicate on battery life.  Gray scale is all I'm looking for.  I like the compact nature of it, too. 

Hopefully someone out there knows someone who might have personal experience with the unit.

My brother is the one looking to buy one (for me).  He told me my Cuda 242 was "crappy" and took exception with its reliability when it showed some of the lakes we fished around Quetico with depths greater than 2500 feet.  Me?  I just drop the zero and figure that gets me close enough....

Anyone that is considering buying this unit OR just wants to get the BEST price available should look into using Wiki-Buy.

You can go right to the website and when you want to buy ANYTHING it will find the best price PERIOD.

IF you use the CHROME browser, go to the CHROME store and you can download the app for free!

Wiki-Buy scans AMAZON for best price but the cool thing is that once you have the app installed EVERYTIME you look at a product on Amazon you'll see a Green W pop-up right under the Amazon price.

It will either say Amazon has the best price OR will say they found a better price elsewhere.

Check the price there and take in account the shipping costs.

That link Wally13 posted for reviews of the color model has a link to Amazon. The price there is $128 with FREE shipping.

The Wiki-Buy price is $27 dollars cheaper with FREE shipping via E-BAY.

  I use Wiki-Buy to check prices on EVERYTHING I purchase online. Amazon is still one of the cheapest BUT not always. It pays to check.  Wink Grin Grin Grin
