He's a real cool dude who's up on all kinds of topics.  Wink

Just curious how you're feeling.  Gonna hobble your way to Copia this year?

TomT -

This MAY be the first year in the past 15 that I miss.  The jury is still out, though the issue has nothing to do with my hip.  I'm getting around just fine, walking 1.5 miles everyday (with a cane, though I don't absolutely need it), and I'm spending an hour in the gym (upper-body, only) everyday for over a week now.  Rather, my problem is that I MAY have a conflict involving my son moving into his first home.  Though I wouldn't be a lot of help lugging his furniture around (just yet), I'd like to make myself "available" to do whatever I can.

Normally, MagicPaddler & I share a room during CanoeCopia weekend.  Since I won't know my final disposition for a few weeks, I can't commit to anything yet.  If I end up going, it may well be a last-minute thing depending on my son's situation.

As I've already used up my 2018 budget for "new toys", the only real reason I would go (& the only real reason I ever go) is to meet up with you guys.  I always have a blast at our get-togethers, etc.  LOTS of trip-planning, exchanges of notes, future partnering, etc., going on.  Most - and the best - of my trips over the past 15 years grew their roots in CanoeCopia.  This is simply a great group of guys (& gals) to be around.

I'm still hopeful I might be able to work things out.  We'll see.  I'm sure the event will be a success.

I can always count on a detailed report from you.  That is a thorough accounting of the situation.  Hope to see you there.  Smiley

Nothing good happens to those who move the second weekend of March... make sure your son knows that. Really bad juju. Bad mojo too. I wouldn’t risk the ides of March. Huh Shocked

Jimbo,
Glad to hear the new hardware is going well and from your exercise routine it sounds like you are getting right after it.  I hope Spartan 2 has an equally successful outcome.

Technically speaking, it's the thigh bone that's "back in the groove."  I had a bad case of hip dysplasia; the leg was about half outside of the socket.  That allowed for the onset of osteoarthritis, etc..  Anyhow, all fixed now and my leg, at least, is back in the groove!

Good to hear. I think MP has planned some typically adventurous trips for you this summer if I heard correctly. You should be able to jack-rabbit over those portages with your bionic hip!

Yeah, he has already tried to persuade me to haul first-day food pack loads over a notorious goat trail portage versus any sane person's approach to our targeted lake.  I didn't fall for it, however.  Pulling one-too-many stunts like that probably contributed significantly to my: 1) back fusion, and then 2) hip replacement over the last 3 years.  Three strikes and I'm likely "out" of canoe-camping for good!

I think Magic is the one with the "bionic parts" or, at least, an "Energizer Bunny" heart.  He takes a licking but keeps on ticking!
