A common misconception is that the 'Albino Bonaparte' is white meat similar to common game fowl such as grouse or chicken when its flesh is actually a beautiful marbled red.  (gayaashk Ba-naaport midaaswi asiniikaa is Ojibwe for "Wagyu 10 of the rocks").  Often overlooked when filleting is a very tender cut of meat from the top of their shoulders to just under their wing.

Facing the same direction would indicate that either a storm is approaching or the daily arrival of the Dawson Trail beverage canoe.

I defer to PJ's superior knowledge of Ojibwe lore, particularly in regard to the Albino Bonapartes' perspicacity as directional aides for voyageurs. Moreover, as a chef well-versed in wilderness haute cuisine AND as someone well-known for frequently shooting-the-bird, few are better qualified than PJ to comment with respect to the Bonapartes' value as shore lunch.

Word to the wise for would-be hunters: when approaching a Wagyu 10, always target the rear guard first, then work your way forward through their formation. Bear in mind your daily limit is four (unless you're under a Conservation License; in that case your limit is a mere two).

Today's POD is a rare combo of a nice reflective shot and a great spider web shot. Very nice Smiley

You're not likely to see them, either, where there are webs engineered by that particular type of spider...or, at least, that's my understanding.  Since I'm neither an entomologist nor an ornithologist, however,  I'll leave the explanation to QJers more qualified than myself. Or, maybe, we can get an expert in Ojibwe lore to chime in.  The reasons seem, to me, more metaphysical than scientific, anyhow.

A Bachelor of Science degree is helpful, but not required. Cool

You laugh now but it's all fun and games until you come face-to-face with the species of arachnid that formed that web.  Unless your canoe paddle was forged in the fire of 1NZ by Holly Armstrong and glows blue in the presence of evil, I might keep my distance from shore if I were you.

I'll heed your warning PJ, my history with spiders in the Q isn't one I'm proud of!  Wink Shocked Grin Grin

Today's POD looks like a oil painting. Very different.

That has to be Cirrus.

I miss so much by not checking the POD on a daily basis.  Smiley
