Todays POD also has that "oil painting" feel to it... even more so.  Not sure why it grabs me the way it does but I find it hauntingly beautiful.

I'm not any kind of photographer (as the BWJ publisher routinely reminds me) but I got to wonder if there is some special kind of lens or filter in play? I'm not saying the landscape isn't phenomenal in its own right - I've walked in such landscapes in similar light - but TWO oil painting quality PODs in a row?  It certainly strikes my fancy.

Even when I allow for the facts that I'm stuck wintering in the sub-tropics, aching to get up to Canoe Country this June, and therefore easily impressionable, I still find myself quite impressed.

Bravo!

It has a very surreal look to me as well as looking like a oil painting. Very nice indeed  Smiley

This set of PODs has captured subtle, alluring color combinations. Today's POD is a good example. Thanks, again, for sharing.

All of the recent PODS are post card worthy for sure.
I'm happy my pics are just in focus. These are where having that creative eye really shows.

The essence of photography is light and shadow.  When you add color it adds another dimension.  This recent group of photos are good examples of photography from an artist’s eye and have been most enjoyable.

When I studied with Rod PLanck in Michigan’s UP, he always considered “post card” photography an insult.  He was aiming for a much higher plane.  (I very, very rarely met his expectations.)

Should I know who Michael Venero is?  Screen name?

I'd be thrilled if someone said a picture I took was "post card" worthy  Wink Grin
Then again I haven't been on that higher plane since the 60's.  Wink Roll Eyes Grin

Cheesy

I get your point, ST.  Both points, actually.

And, truth be told, I would be thrilled to have a photo that became a post card.  But the comment always brings back my teacher’s voice in my mind, “Lynda, don’t take post card pictures.  Always aim for the best art you can make.”

And now that my vision is fading due to macular degeneration and my physical stamina is also less than it used to be, I have abandoned my good equipment for a high-quality point-and-shoot camera.  Thank God for auto-focus!

Anyway, we are certainly agreed that this last group of POD’s are wonderful!

100% agree on that great feature.
I get the whole idea of making the best art thing BUT so many pics in canoe county happen so fast, you're lucky to even get you're camera ready to snap, never mine trying to get the best focus/angle.

Animal pics especially. Or paddling a stream and something interesting is there in a flash and then you've moved on.

That auto focus is a game changer then.
