Camping in BWCA and fishing the Quetico

Because I am too lazy to look it up and I know one of you guys will know the answer.  Can you basecamp in the BWCA and fish the Q (assuming you have the proper permits (RABC) and Ontario fishing license)?  The Q used to have a separate permit and camping fee.  Now it is all rolled into one (isn't it?)  I guess I have never paid attention to that detail when obtaining my permit the past few years.  Can I even get a 'day-use' (although it would be for a week) permit like in the BWCA?  Thanks for your help.

Short answer is "yes".

However, you'll need the outdoors card from Ontario MNR where you will add on your fishing license.

You'll need to visit a ranger station/EP in Canada to purchase the number of day permits you'll want for fishing in Canada. It's one per day unless they've changed that or perhaps now issue a "week-long" pass.

I usually had a RABC in possession to make sure that I was absolutely legal, but I'm not sure if it's needed. Others can clarify.

Enjoy!

Thanks HnD for the info.  We have tripped over 28 years to the Q, but next Fall we are thinking about basing on Crooked.  As I was exploring camps, I realized there are many more camp options on the US side, but I want to fish many of the bays in the Q. It got me to thinking on how I could make that work and I just did not have the answers.  I had never really thought about it before.  Anyway, I assume I can purchase the 'day permits' at the PP ranger station?  I would also assume the cost would be much less than camping fees/permits? Finally, (and this is a really dumb question), as I am not technically 'entering' the Q, I would not need to obtain an entry point permit?

We picked up our day permit to fish Carp at PP. We didn't need a Quetico permit as I recall.  This was a couple of years ago. I think the cost was about 15USD per day.

Daily vehicle permits: (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

Looks like around CA$10/day but an annual is CA$100.  It appears you can get annual in advance, and dailies you have to get from ranger station, up to 5 days.  A vehicle permit covers one vehicle - car or canoe or similar.
