Today's POD brings back the time my old tripping buddies hung their wet clothes over a drying beam built over a fire pit on a river trip in Maine.

  Per usual they got into the hard liquor heavy that night. I went to bed, they stayed up to star watch.

  They forgot about the clothes and threw some pine tree tops into the fire which burst into flames 8 ft tall.

Next morning they were still in bed. I went to the facilities and noticed one of the guy's ONLY pair of pant's had been burnt up!  Wink Grin

He had to borrow the only pair of pants that would fit. They were "used" and in a bad way.  Shocked Cry

I really like today’s POD.  I did’t see it until almost bedtime, as we were on the road to the canoe country.  Nice to be back on the Gunflint for another cabin week.

I can’t remember exactly, but somewhere between Nym and Sturgeon. Probably Nym-Batch or Batch-Maria. I was impressed with the work done by the portage maintenance crews.
