Marmot Limelight 3P Tent

I finally wore out an old Eureka 4 man tent that I had been using for the last 15 years or so.  Well, actually one of my trip mates this summer elected to bring his dog along on the trip.  The dog did fine in the canoe, but did not like being zipped in the tent while we ate dinner(Steaks) the first night and chewed through the screen to escape.  My trip mate felt kind of bad, but as I told him, it gave me a reason to shop for a new tent, so I wasn't all that upset.  Some duct tape and we were able to complete the trip without getting eaten alive by mosquitoes.

I started looking for a new tent recently hoping that I might find a good end of season clearance deal.  The tent that I was replacing was a Eureka 4 man tent, that we were using for two persons.  That tent only had the one door, so I was looking for a tent with dual doors for added convenience for entry and exit.  Many modern tents have this feature.

I came across this review on the Marmot Limelight, which sold me on the tent, as it seemed to be a good fit for a two person setup.

So now I just had to shop around to find the best deal on this tent.  I've been watching prices for about a month now at various sites and I finally pulled the trigger on this tent at Sierra.com.  They had the tent marked down to $149 from the list price of $359.  Cheapest price I could find, and I doubt I will  see it cheaper in new condition.

I thought I would pass the info on in case others are in the same boat shopping for a new tent.  No affiliation with Sierra.com (Used to be called Sierra trading post)

My brother has a Marmot Limelight 3.  He says it’s roomy and easy to setup.  You got a very good price on your Limelight purchase.

Thanks for the reassurance Mike.  I have set the tent up in the back yard and I do like it so far.  I really like the added "wings" what extend the inside tent space under the vestibule.   The real test will be in June.

My last tent purchase was back in 2017 when I purchased a 6 Man Eureka tent.  I have had Eureka tents in the past and have been pleased with them.  The 6 man is nice, but I have found it to be easier to find multiple small tent pads than one big level one in Quetico.   Unfortunately Eureka has stopped selling tents, so I had to go with another brand this time.
