I'd have never thought of that. Do all/most GPS units need a decent clearing to do their thing?

A coworker of my wife's offered to loan me his GPS receiver. At first I turned down his generous offer but I was having second thoughts. There is a two mile bushwhack I thought I could try again. I failed at following the landmark recollections of an old timer the first time I tried and then just finding my way back to the tiny lake I started from proved to be extremely difficult. I thought a GPS unit might actually help. It sounds like bread crumbs might still be my best bet. (fluorescent tape)
