Waterproof bags especially if buried in a pack are too slow to retrieve when a good photo op presents itself. If your digital camera is small enough, keep it around your neck in one of those Pelican-type cases meant for cigarettes. All the outdoors stores sell them. That way you can get to it within seconds and with its rubber seal it's waterproof.
