Recipes for the Boundary Waters and Quetico


French Onion Soup

Recipe Ingredients:

  • 1 large onion, i used an vidallia but any large onion will do
  • 1 beef bullion cube
  • butter

Cooking instructions:
Peel an onion and cut in half. Score the cut side of the onion so it will open when cooking. Scoop out the center so the bullion cube will fit in the center. Spread some butter over the onion and wrap in tinfoil. Cook until done and serve out of the foil. It tastes just like french onion soup.

You could add some cheese when done to mimic the french onion soup more, but it is great as is.

Tried this in Kipawa this year and it was a big hit.
