Recipes for the Boundary Waters and Quetico


Voyaguer's Bannock
thanks to old salt

Recipe Ingredients:

  • 4 cups Flour
  • 2T Baking Powder
  • 1 1/2t salt
  • 1t cream of tarter
  • 2T sugar OR sugar twin
  • 1 cup shortening (prefer butter flavored)
  • 1 qt powdered milk

Cooking instructions:
Using pastry blender, mix all ingredients until texture is even. Yield 6 cup mixture. Figure 1 cup per person. Add water gradually, mixing well, until you have thick batter. Cook in hot greased skillet like drop biscuits. Turn over 1/2 way. Do NOT pat down.

For pancakes, muffins, waffles, add egg mix, or 1 egg per cup of mixture. Vary water.
