This topic has been covered quite extensively on the canoecountry bulletin board and perhaps here as well. I'll just reiterate what I've said on previous posts. In over 100 days of tripping in the BW and Quetico I have never filtered or treated water and have never been ill. Nor have any others of our party. The main concern is giardia and it seems as though I've read that any ill effects from ingesting giardia cysts won't manifest themselves until several days afterward. Hopefully in time to get home.
