I've filtered for many years. Since my first taste of pollen-aid late one May. It's simple, brainless and it's a good excuse to sit down and look around. It certainly makes me feel better when I'm at one of the "brown" lakes. I would guess the odds are that I'm wasting my time, if that's possible there. I think Quetico still claims that there has never been a confirmed case. Perhaps they are just being cautious and covering their butts. I just don't want to be the first case, especially since I've been warned. Another thing I consider is that I was asked to boil/filter long before I heard of any consumption advisories regarding Mercury in the fish. Or were we all expected to know that fish contain a wide variety of contaminants such as mercury, PCBs, DDT, mirex, toxaphene and dioxins? I mistakenly thought these were clean, pristine lakes. And all this time you've been throwing the little ones back ;-) Posted by db on November 27, 1999 at 00:49 In reply to: Drinking Water posted by Tom Swulius on November 26, 1999 at 04:06 |
