The "Quetico Wilderness Guide" that comes with every reservation, states " In all lake and stream water, there is the possibility of parasites. One in particular, Giardia, can cause ...snip... Quetico's incidence of Giardia has been low." It goes on to describe ways to be "absolutely" safe. That is the official wording. It's your call. I understand Giardia is transmitted mostly by beavers and people, which is why latrines are not to be any closer than 150 feet from the shoreline. How we can get the beavers to follow that rule is beyond me. They don't like to go that far into the woods.
