Re: What is your scariest moment in a canoe...?

We had a similar experience Randy. We were camped at the very southeast part of Lac La Croix. We had been down the river after dinner doing a little fishing. The guys in the other canoe actually saw a wolf on the shoreline. We didn't but we heard it (or my brother in the other canoe) howling. Every time we came to a narrow part, we paddled a little faster for fear of the wolf.
Anyway, the scary part came when we headed back to camp and exited the river to head across the bay to our camp. The wind really picked up and created huge waves. We paddled with all our might but weren't going anywhere. The waves were hitting us broadside and we were getting a little wet. Well, we dug down and found that extra strength and finally made it across to camp. Exhausted, we sat on the rock point and after a few minutes looked back across the bay only to see that it was now perfectly calm.
