Tim and Ken brought up a good point about being worried more about your vehicle at the landing than your stuff in camp. I personally have not heard of anybody swiping stuff from a wilderness campsite, but I have heard stories about vandalism and break-ins at entry points. I'm not saying it happens alot in the parking lot, but much more than in the wilderness. I haven't heard of vehicles being stolen. I'll not leave anything of value behind. I'll lock up and even leave the glove compartment open so anybody can see that there's nothing of value in the vehicle. I also like to disconnect the positive battery terminal not as much to prevent theft as much as to make sure my battery is not slowly drained by something like a dome light accidentally left on.
