Randy-- Thanks for your kind words. I definitely understand your point, and reflecting on it I agree with you--I hate it when my e-mail, already overwhelmed, is cluttered up with spam. I'll just have to figure out another way to spread the word. There are lots of ways to build alliances with the people who really care about the outdoors--we're trying to partner up with national-park cooperating associations, we're looking at sponsoring trail-maintenance days & other events, we're trying to figure out how to support local trail clubs, paddling clubs, etc. I've been making books and other media for outdoorspeople for a fairly long time, and have always believed in shooting to put out a truly worthwhile product and then trying to reach, in a grass-roots sort of way, the consumers who'd be likely to care most about it, likely to start some word-of-mouth appreciation of the product. I feel fortunate to be doing my thing at a place where, for once, that kind of approach is company policy. Anyway, no more GORP-related posts to this board. Please do feel free to contact me any time with reactions to stories on GORP, reports of inaccuracies, or with stories or photos you're interested in submitting for publication on GORP. cheers, Posted by Ian at GORP on February 08, 2000 at 12:28 In reply to: Re: Your wish is my command posted by Randy on February 08, 2000 at 10:22 |
