Never camped on the island, but I can recommend the campsite on the "narrows" or waist of the lake.

Reasonably level, open to the sun and prevailing wind (keeps the bugs down), but with enough shade that you don't cook, easy parking for the boats, easy access to water, and bank fishing the best I ever had ( at least it was in 1988).

Carp was my first trip and we're going there again this year. I don't know how much has changed because I haven't passed that way since, but if it's anything like it was then...
