Thanks for the info. Our plan is to camp near the beginning of the long portage and hit it early in the morning, looking for another campsite in West Bay, so that we're really not doing much more than the portage that day. We are travelling with a slight, but spunky, 10 year old (with a great deal of canoeing and camping experience)... I imagine that portage is going to be a challenge for her.

On that note, does anyone have any experience...suggestions... for travelling with kids this age? She will be travelling as center passenger with two strong adults.
