Grunt: I tried the Converse Allstars on my second trip many years ago. It was, coincidentally, shortly after they became available in many colors. I chose a less intrusive, forest green color, though. Previously, I never went into the wilderness without some serious, high top, leather boots. I found the Allstars pretty good on most accounts and might use them again someday, but I think I will look into some of the new "serious" boots with goretex for my next trip. It's nice to keep your feet dry and well protected.
