Don, your trip with 2 daughters would be perfect in this area. I brought my daughter and her friend there 2 years ago when they were 13. The two portages are very easy. Flat and easy to find. The cross country trails can be hilly, hence the name Suomi Hills. A walk to Kremer Lake would be fun. (You will see the lake from the road (Hi 38)about 1 mile before you turn into the north parking lot.) The trails are maintained in the summer for hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding.
