Kim, Thank you for your response to my inquirey. I would like to plan a canoe camping trip in the south Suomi Hills area this spring. Since I have never been there, I am planning this all from maps. I would like to park in the south parking area and paddle/ portage down to Spruce Island Lake.I would then stay at one of the two primative sites there. If you could give me some info, I would greatly appreciate it. Is this a highly used area during the spring? Will I be competing for a camp site? Are the trails between lakes maintained well enough to portage a canoe and gear in? How is the terrain? Thank you for any info you would deem helpful, Don D.
