Thanks for reminding me to prepare a survival kit for this summers trip.I too will carry it in a fanny pack that will stay with me at all times.I thought of this on the long drive home last year after spending an interesting(read "nervewracking")crossing of Cache Bay that if we had capsized, lost our gear, made it to shore we had none of the items we would have needed.Which leads to the next question what would have been the best thing to do had we capsized? Yes,I realize we shouldn't have been out there in the first place but a combination of wanting to get back,it was our last day,and not realizing how bad it was until we were out in the waves.I considered it far more risky to try and turn the canoe around than proceed, the last thing I wanted was to have the canoe get sideways to the waves.
