The Everglades are beautiful in the winter!! Great weather, about 85 during the day, little rain. We went into the 10,000 Islands and key hopped in the Gulf the first time and exited back through the interior rivers. Last winter we went into the Florida Bay from the interior rivers and exited the same way. I highly recommend trying it. Have wanted to do the Okeefenokee but alas, too many trips and not enough time! You can, actually, do quite a long trip through the swamp, but people I've spoken with recommend a taking someone with experience or hiring a guide. BUT.. (since this IS a Quetico forum) I'm REALLY excited about my upcoming trip this summer! Permits secured, meals in planning stages, and maps and books being poured over. Oh what fun!!

NOLS is the National Outdoor Leadership School, a well respected organization that runs training excursions all over the world. Their emphasis is on wilderness training and the promotion of LNT principles.
