I think I saw a post that Quetico has never been surveyed for depth. This is true to the best of my knowledge.
Quetico's philosphy is that the modern canoe experience should simulate the historic canoe trips of the fur traders. The caretakers of the park don't want to make it too easy - if it was that easy, it wouldn't be any fun.
We took a transducer on one trip - saw lots of fish, and didn't catch one while we were using the sonar.
Best depth finder I know is a bare 1/2 ox. jig that tells me the bottom content and contour as well as depth. Smallmouth in the "boulders", walleye in the transition zones.
