Guy: You're nowhere without navigation. Without it we'd all have a hard time finding our ways from home to work or even from our beds to the bathroom, for that matter. Without specialized equipment, celestial navigation is important to understand if you want to determine your general heading, but it's not likely to provide the kind of accuracy you'll need to pinpoint the direction to your next portage. A compass and good map is hard to beat for that. A good map and the sky are second best. Without special equipment, the best you're likely to do is distinguish between NW and NNW.
