Quite a few years ago I fished Kawnipi in late June or early July. Sorry, I can't remember which. We were mainly after smallies and ended up camping and fishing off an island on the north end of McVicar Bay.

We wasted a lot of time fishing shallows while I argued with my buddy that the bass were probably deeper. We finally found them on the deeper points extending into the main lake at around 20 feet. The Walleye were there, too.
