I know your frustration, been there, but I finally own a Gore-Tex suit, after saving for 3 years. I did buy my pants on a fall close out sale here in Wichita. Then got my jacket at Bass Pro Shop on sale in Springfield. They are not matching colors but shopping for a sale did save a bundle. Now that I have the "right stuff" it was worth it. My rainy trips are much more enjoyable, and yes, Gore-Tex is truly breathable, light weight, and warm! Save your money for the Gore-Tex, nothing compares if your a sweaty guy. Check out any local Army/Navy stores, I purchased a pair of Gore-Tex/Thinsulate Mountaineer boots for $30, military issue is all Gore-Tex. Perhaps, just buy the jacket first. In-store values won't be on the web, unfortunately. Good luck shopping!
